Over the years, my peace of mind has come from my creative work. For the last decade much of that has revolved around refitting a traditional 1964 Irish Trawler, Ros Beithe, to a live-aboard which I renamed Whaleheart, and presently refitting a 51 foot Polynesian double canoe, Ha’nu’na. Here are videos which I’ve created for the process I’ve undertaken in the double canoe refit.

Episode 08 - Refitting Han'Nu'Na, Wharram Tehini 51': Removing the Massive Mast Step
In this episode, after having removed beam three, I repair it and replace it. Along the way I change direction to install it in a more simple, yet more effective way. Success! Working on the water to refit my Wharram Tehini 51', Ha'Nu'Na I am refitting her with a new deck layout and Wharram rig, but first need to do repairs to the cabin roofs... under the massive beams. The beams also need inspected and in some cases repaired.

I built an engine sled using the Wharram design for such sleds. It’s basically like a mini boat and a transoms to mount the engine which can be lowered or raised to lif th engine out of the water when sailing or in when motoring. Ingenious. I’m testing it along with my Epropulsion electric out board, and taking my Tiki 26 out to her summer mooring. Enjoy!
